Job Description

A leading manufacturer of components in the Lafayette, Indiana area is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead all HR initiatives and functions at a non-union, single-site manufacturing facility supporting approximately 200 team members. This highly visible, onsite leadership role offers competitive compensation, benefits, and strong long-term growth potential.

The Human Resources Manager will report directly to the VP & CHRO, with day-to-day support from the Subsidiary President, and will serve as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager, Controller, and other functional leaders. This role will play a key part in aligning people strategies with business goals in a growing and evolving environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Reporting directly to this role is the Payroll/HR Administrator, HR Representative, and the EHS Leader.

  • Leads HR and EHS programs for the site. (Experience with EHS a strong plus, but not required.)

  • Engages with the leadership team to develop, implement, and manage company-wide HR initiatives, programs, and projects, while ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.

  • Identifies synergies and integrates best practices across plant locations to improve and optimize common and shared HR, employee relations, and administrative processes and solutions.

  • Functions as a business partner with a sound understanding and application of operations and cost drivers of the business.

  • Sponsors and supports the design and implementation of recruitment, training, and development, performance management, and talent retention efforts at all levels of the organization.

  • Liaison with the corporate Total Rewards Shared Services function for compensation, benefits, and HRIS support.

  • Coach, develop, and manage direct team members to build organizational capability and provide future opportunities to advance and/or expand job scope.

  • Develops and directs employee relations policies and practices to determine necessary actions to comply with new, updated or changing company and U.S.-based policies and practices.

  • Provides direction and guidance regarding employment issues including but not limited to corrective action, grievance resolution and other employee relations matters.

  • Represents the company for regulatory responsibilities (DOL, unemployment, workers comp, OSHA, etc.).

  • Acts as a key-trusted advisor to the organization and key operations/business leaders, maintaining awareness of best practices and industry trends while demonstrating strong people skills, including influencing, facilitation, relationship building and communication.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field (or commensurate experience); MBA or master’s degree a strong plus.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive HR experience, with HR generalist expertise and leading HR teams for at least 100+ employee operations.

  • Experience with multi-shift HR support services is preferable but not required.

  • Deep experience with staffing and temporary services.

  • Broad employee or labor relations experience necessary. (Non-union site)

  • Must possess demonstrated employee relations, coaching and communications experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with employees and management to gain support to achieve goals and effectively represent HR programs and policies to balance the interests of the three key stakeholders: business, HR, and employees.

  • Strong capabilities in managing constructive feedback, conflict resolution and performance management practices.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and applicable experience with compliance regulations and requirements.

  • Bilingual Spanish English is a strong plus, though not required.
