Sonoco is looking for an Internal Auditor in our Charlotte, NC or Hartsville, SC location. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Internal Audit and will assist in conducting financial and operational audits. This position also assists in the development and maintenance of audit documentation and testing programs. Candidates should be familiar with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 (SOX) regulations and auditing methodologies and techniques. Prior experience performing SOX Audits is required. This position can be an Auditor I, II, or III depending on candidate experience. Responsibilities include developing or updating a detailed understanding of current business processes, preparing flowcharts, narratives, and walkthroughs, identifying risks and internal controls, compiling and evaluating information to develop conclusions about risks and internal controls including SOX, assisting with writing audit reports and discussing results with management, preparing working papers, working with business process leaders to identify solutions, ensuring corrective actions on audit findings, fostering continuous improvement, supervising junior auditors on limited assignments, accessing reports and data for analytical procedures, participating in fraud and whistleblower investigations, coordinating with external auditors, planning and completing audits according to professional standards, providing assistance to external audit personnel, and performing other accounting and auditing duties as directed. The position operates under a Hybrid Work Model and can be located at either the Charlotte, NC office or Corporate Headquarters in Hartsville, SC. Candidates should have a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, 2-4 years of experience in public accounting and/or industry, knowledge of GAAP, financial accounting and auditing methodologies, experience auditing in an Oracle environment is desired, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to prioritize workload, manufacturing environment experience preferred, and required experience with SOX Section 404 audits. CPA or CIA certification is highly recommended but not required. Travel may be 15%-25% for audits in domestic and foreign locations.
