ABOUT THE JOB - MACHINIST

Work Environment: Monday - Friday onsite -
2nd shift Rate of Pay: $30-$34/hour based on years of experience
Work Schedule/Hours: 2ND SHIFT - Shift Differential $2.50/hour Hours: 1:30pm - 10:00pm Job Summary The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies. You'll work collaboratively with other multi-skilled technicians under the direction of the Shop Supervisor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities \n - Setting up and operating various machines and tools on a 3 or 4 axis CNC.
\n - Reading and interpreting work orders to select proper work center and identify required tooling and/or programs necessary to perform the operation.
\n - Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems.
\n - Obtaining and installing proper tooling, such as jaws, chucks, tombstones, fixtures, and cutting tools.
\n - Using various gauges and precision instruments (i.e. intra-mics, profilometers for finish surface requirements, calipers, IDOD micrometers, indicators, and special gaging equipment, etc.) to inspect production pieces to make necessary program and tooling adjustments.
\n - Cleaning and removing burrs after the operation is completed.
\n - Assisting manufacturing engineering in process improvements.
\n - Training other employees on a variety of machine tools and operations.

\n - Returning tooling and reporting any difficulties with tooling or material.
\n - Train/Mentor lower-level CNC machinists.
\n - Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions taken thus far as well as any necessary further step

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities \n - Read, write, speak and comprehend English.
\n - Add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with fractional measurements and decimals.
\n - Set up, adjust, and operate all machine tools in your area of responsibility in order to produce various parts within specifications from blueprints.
\n - Read and understand manufacturing mechanical blueprints, and use good basic math skills in addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
\n - Work accurately with basic keyboard and monitor interfaced with the mainframe computer to enter work order data and correct qualities as required.
\n - Hold very close tolerances and surface finish requirements.
\n - Exceptional teamwork skills and strong communication abilities.
\n - Working knowledge or ability to learn to use a micrometer, depth micrometer, dial indicators, CMM, and other precision measuring instruments.
\n - A demonstrated history of good attendance and a safe work record.
\n - Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD)

Education and Experience \n - A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
\n - 5+ years of manual machining working with CNC lathes, mills and surface grinders.
\n - The ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and other documents.
\n - Proficiency with measuring equipment, such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.
\n - Computer proficiency.
\n - Experience working with stainless steel or duplex stainless steel preferred.
\n - CNC Horizontal mill experience preferred.
\n - Lean manufacturing methods preferred.
\n - Able to work quickly and efficiently through Process Improvement structure; Good verbal and written communication; Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
